This book reaches a younger audience than most of the other books. My ten year old sister read and enjoyed it, for instance. I’m going into eighth grade and it was a little more of a stretch for me, but all the same, I said I’d post every book I read during the summer. Still a pretty good book.

Siblings Kate, Michael, and Emma have been orphans almost their entire life when they are shipped off to the last orphanage that will take a kid like Emma, who has a knack for trouble. What they find is a book that takes them into the past, where they are brought to the attention of the ruling witch who wants the books power for herself. The siblings are supposed to be the keepers, and they begin to learn more about their parents as they try to save the island.

Dwarves, mild violence, no romance, but still a pretty good book. Probably ages 8-12, though.
